On Friday, I went to a lovely little cosy restaurant in Dublin. The restaurant is called La Maison, you won’t be surprise if I say its a French restaurant! Very quirky! In a very hip area of Dublin 2, a glance over customers tells you its a place for fairly young and quite hip crowd. As you enter its hard to say whether its an expensive restaurant or a reasonable one. Here is what confused me:
– Small restaurant, casual wooden chairs and tables= reasonable price
– Waiters dressed in proper black vest and white shirt= expensive
– Big frames of retro pictures, old vintage ads all over the restaurant= reasonable
– A very small set menu without any mention of price-=expensive
– A waiter with wine menu and totally ready to talk about wine = expensive
But at the end to my surprise it was in fact very reasonable. It happened that 3 courses were 28 Euro! not bad really.
We ordered our 3 course meals and the starters ( selection of home made pate with pickles, goats cheese and walnut) were just perfection. The mains ( Seafood in white wine sauce and duck breast, ginger and carrot puree with potato fondant) were al right! Not the best. The desert of chocolate fondant was outrageous! Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and home made custard! So good! Chocolate oozing out and ahh! You know what I mean!
In this post I have remade their goats cheese and walnut starter. I say it is a good copy indeed. If anything I would put rocket instead of spinach, as La Maison had. Peppery-ness of rocket is essential. But never the less its a good copy and makes a perfect starter for when you have guests. It takes no time to make ready and it is surprisingly more tasty than it looks.
The next thing: I am counting down to my holiday in Sardinia! Aiming to look
good not too bad in my summer clothes. So I have been eating fairly healthy lately. This morning, as many mornings, I had a smoothie. I love my smoothies so much that I think they deserve to be in my blog. So here are some pics from this morning breakfast:
Oh and the tune for this page 😉
Thanks for looking and come back soon!
